Thye Kim Meng's thoughts about our reunion

Still Buddies after All These Years

The day somehow rather came quickly after a series of frantic searches a fortnight preceding it.

The old boys gathering was orgainsed for students of Class of 1971 to recall common memories and so there was added significance since many have known each other since primary school days of Bukit Baru Primary English School, Keck Seng Chinese Primary School, Tranquerah English Primary School or Sin Hua Chinese Primary School, Durian Tunggal. And if you were to fit into the descriptions of an average student between1967-1971, you would be clothed by uniforms made by Bee Loon, wore Fung Keong shoes to school, had your pictures taken at Happy Studio and took part or was aware of the shop-lifting that was going on in Tai Chong Book Co at Bunga Raya.

The old boys trickled into Lee Garden from early afternoon to about 8.30pm. There were some early birds and the late comers were the usual culprits. We met with broad smiles, followed by almost the same very creative opening line “Oh yes, I remember you” , even when one had the faintest idea who the hell the person in front of him was. We have learnt to be polite after leaving school; Politeness we gathered is needed mask to survive in this world.

Mingling became more intense as night fell by, then slowly and surely we all found our little cliques and began to form groups of 3 to 6 gathering in circles apart from the rests. The independent rests (Sai Cheong, Mossadeq, Kamarulzamman, Chee Yu, Pang Boon, Chien Siong etc) would move within spaces left by the groupings.

For each group it was “still buddies after all these years”.

The night wasn’t where everyone could share everything with each other. It never was like that. Still it is not and was not intended to be I think. I for one can live with that and would be looking forward to meeting us all once again.

Update 28th October, 2009 from Francis Lim, 60 hrs to the Gathering

Okay for latest updates.

Loy Chee Yu has found Chee Keng Poh and Chin Loy Onn. Both Keng Poh and Loy Onn are joining us. Keng Poh will bring his wife and two children. I spoke to Loy Onn last night and he said he is coming alone. Mossadeq has found Azhar who will also join us . Robert Som Sai Cheong also confirmed Azhar is coming. Robert has volunteered to be the traffic warden so call him at 0193362443 if you are lost. Mohd Nor will bring his wife, daughter and two grandchildren. Anyone with great grand children? Joon Say confirmed Dr Yap Hock Kee will join us. Dr Yap just called me to ask for directions.

Roland informed Jolly Kiang is not able to take leave so he can’t join us. I understand Mok will try to locate Foo Pok Boo whose family house is just doors away from Mok’s house.

Isa regrets he still can’t make it and Joon Say has sent him a heart rending plea that we are all meeting because of him. He return last year, look up the telephone directory, found Joon Say and we met. That meeting spawned the idea of a reunion for this year. Koh Pah is also encouraging Isa to make it. Kim Meng maybe you can give a reply to MiSA’s great message to you and he may come just because of you.

Roland has reported that 7 teachers will join. Nellie Khoo, Gan Chui Peng, Audrey Lim, Ng Sin Min, Phoot Kok Long, Jee Kim Joon and Oh Kim Hin have confirmed. Michael Rodrigues will try. Peter Yong Swee Onn is leaving for the UK on the same day.

Sue Lin found Lai Sam Hoo but Sam Hoo cant join us. I called Sam Hoo on Monday night and he reconfirmed that he can’t make it. Lai Sam Hoo’s house no is +6567892339 and mob is +6597429316. Anyone can try to convince him to thumb a lift from Sue Lin to join us this Saturday?

Boon Siew is torn between joining us or not joining us. He says even if he cud join us he has to be back in Kiwiland by 3 Nov. Any of you can help to convince our Boon Siew to join us? Chandra and I have tried. There must be one of us who knows what can make him come. David Samuel Ong, can you?

Koh Pah met up with Simon Gan Chin Hock many years ago. Chin Hock it seems made his millions shortly after he left school but has his sad story to tell. Koh Pah is trying to track Chin Hock and if found we can hear the story from the horse’s mouth. Koh Pah has also narrated Sree Dharan’s sad story.

Melaka Hari Ini reported our event last Sunday. I understand NST will report our event tomorrow. Kim Meng is promoting the website for the alumni and he will sponsor it for two years. He is looking for our support in the form of financial sponsor and moderating the articles.

So the people joining will be:

Benny n wife(2) , Chandra n wife (4) , kohpah (5), pang boon (6),hionglim n wife(8), chiensiong (9), naim(10), mdnor n wife(12), kamal (13), prabha(14), chekmin(15), kimseet(16), sweekim(17), yewkay(18) Dr yap hock kee(19), william(20),ramly(21),david n wife(23), Joonsay (24), kimong(25),saicheong(26),cheeyu(27),teckfatt(28), chaikoon(29), mossadeq(30), Othman( 31), Tian Hu (32), Hee Mun (33), Lai Ching Chong (34), Wong Tian (35), Lim Hock Beng n co (37) Loy Choy Yin (38), Toh Joon Wah (39), Jimmy Chong (40) (Class 75, was a cymbalist in our cadet band), Mustazar Mohd (41) (left for RMC College in Form 4) h/phone :012-3912232 , Syed Omar n co(43) (h/phone : 019-2712356). Lee Garden is a brand new café with rooms for lodging carved out of an old bungalow and is convenient for those who want to wine and dine and chit chat after which just walk to the room to sleep.

Something useful when we are passing 55

A NEEDLE CAN SAVE THE LIFE OF A STROKE PATIENT

From a Chinese Professor .
Keep a
syringe or needle in your home to do this... It's amazing and an unconventional way of recovering from stroke, read it through it can help somebody one day.

This is amazing.

Please keep this very handy. Excellent tips.
Do take a minute to read this.

You'll never know, ones life may depend on you.

My father was
paralysed and later died from the result of a stroke. I wish I knew about this first aid before.
When stroke strikes, the capillaries in the brain will gradually burst. (Irene Liu)

When a stroke occurs, stay calm.

No matter where the victim is,
do not move him/her. Because, if moved, the capillaries will burst.

Help the victim to sit up where he/she is to prevent him/her from falling over again
and then the blood letting can begin .

If you have in your home an
injection syringe that would be the best.

Otherwise, a
sewing needle or a straight pin will do.

1. Place the needle/pin over fire to sterilize it and then use it to prick the tip of all ......10 fingers.
2. There are no specific acupuncture points, just prick about an mm from the fingernail.
3. Prick till blood comes out.
4. If blood does not start to drip, then squeeze with your fingers.
5. When all 10 digits is bleeding, wait a few minutes then the victim will regain consciousness.

6.
If the victim's mouth is crooked , then pull on his ears until they are red.
7. Then prick each earlobe twice until two drops of blood comes from each earlobe.
After a few minutes the victim should regain consciousness.

Wait till the victim regains his normal state without any abnormal symptoms then take him to the hospital.
Otherwise, if he was taken in the ambulance in a hurry to the hospital, the bumpy trip will cause all the capillaries in his brain to burst.

If he could save his life, barely managing to walk, then it is by the grace of his ancestors.
'I learned about letting blood to save life from Chinese traditional doctor, Ha Bu Ting, who lives in Sun Juke.

Furthermore, I had practical experience with it. Therefore, I can say this method is 100% effective.
In 1979, I was teaching in Fung Gaap College in Tai Chung.

One afternoon, I was teaching a class when another teacher came running to my classroom and said in panting,
'Ms Liu, come quick, our supervisor has had a
stroke !'. I immediately went to the 3rd floor.
When I saw our supervisor, Mr. Chen Fu Tien, his colour was off, his
speech was slurred , his mouth was crooked - all the symptoms of a stroke.

I immediately asked one of the practicum students to go to the pharmacy outside the school to buy a syringe, which I used to prick Mr. Chen's 10 fingers tips.

When all
10 fingers were bleeding (each with a pea-sized drop of blood), after a few minutes, Mr. Chen's face regained its colour and his eyes' spirit returned,

But his mouth was still crooked
. So I pulled on his ears to fill them with blood .
When his ears became red
,
I
pricked his right earlobe twice to let out two drops of blood .
When
both earlobes had two drops of blood each , a miracle happened .
Within 3-5 minutes
the shape of his mouth returned to normal and his speech became clear.

We
let him rest for a while and have a cup of hot tea , then we helped him go down the stairs, drove him to Wei Wah Hospital . He rested one night and was released the next day to return to school to teach.. Everything worked normally.
There were no ill after effects.

On the other hand, the
usual stroke victim usually suffers Irreparable bursting of the brain capillaries on the way to the hospital.
As a result, these victims never recover.' (Irene Liu)
Therefore, stroke is the second cause of death.
The lucky ones will stay alive but can remain paralysed for life.

It is such a horrible thing to happen in ones life.

If we can all remember this blood letting method
and start the life saving process immediately, in a short time, the victim will be revived and regain 100% normality.

Another gathering brewing up on the 31st October, 2009

There are lots of initiatives going on to gather again. Francis Lim is the chief moderator for the next meeting. They managed to trace Benny Khoo and Captain Chandra Mohan and are also in touch with Dr Jayendran. So far only Sree Daran and Zainal Nasir is missing in action.
